Hello, my name is Xiao Ping (XP). I’m currently a postdoctoral researcher at the National University of Singapore, jointly appointed at the Department of Architecture / Biological Sciences. I lead two teams in operationalising environmental research by developing metrics, analytic workflows, and accompanying software products. Broadly speaking, my research applies statistical and computational techniques to areas relating to sustainability and city planning.

As an educator, my teaching covers topics ranging from geospatial programming to… music. I admire those who have both deep expertise and the ability to teach complex concepts effectively, and I’ve been inspired by many from the world of music. It is said that many coders experience an upswing in creativity at night, but to be honest I find experimenting with music production more exciting. Away from the computer, I enjoy spending time with my family while looking for opportunities to bring my son for our next adrenaline rush (much to my wife’s chagrin, but I think she secretly likes it).

I’m always keen to learn from those who have walked the path before me, and am open to opportunities where I can provide value. Please feel free to reach out to me if you’re interested to connect!
